Legal Advocacy

Our Legal Advocate at the Vigo County Courthouse in Terre Haute provides assistance to victims by explaining options, providing accompaniment through the criminal justice system, securing protective orders, and providing referrals to attorneys and legal services. The advocate also holds court-ordered education sessions for those seeking to vacate a no-contact order, and provides training for law enforcement and court personnel.

If you feel the need for a protective order to help you feel safe, contact our Courthouse Office at 812-238-9577.

Our Courthouse Office is on the first floor of the Courthouse, just past the entrance security checkpoint. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except when the Advocate is in court.

While walk-ins are accepted, it is best to call first in case the Advocate is in court.
